Mental Health Law

We deal sensitively but pro-actively for those with mental health issues and have lawyers specially trained in this area.

Our lawyers are members of the panel of legal representatives for both the Mental Health Commission and the Mental Health (Criminal Law) Review Board. We appear at Mental Health Tribunals, representing clients who have been involuntarily detained in approved centres under the Mental Health Act 2001.  We also act for clients before the Mental Health (Criminal Law) Review Board where they have been detained in the Central Mental Hospital pursuant to the Criminal Law Insanity Act 2006, having been found not guilty by reason of insanity, unfit to plead or having been transferred from the prison system.

We have been active in the High Court, taking both Article 40 and Judicial Review applications to secure the interests of such clients.

We have substantial experience and training in this area and our priority has been to ensure the dignity and best interests of clients with mental health difficulties.
