Housing and Welfare Law

We deal with all issues involving local housing authorities, landlords and tenants and on applications to the Social Welfare Appeals Office and  supplementary allowances to the HSE.

KOD Lyons work in partnership with individuals, interest groups and NGOs in protecting and vindicating a wide range of social protections and benefits.

We can assist in advising in relation to applications to the social welfare appeals office and in relation to supplementary allowances to the HSE.

Housing rights are regarded as one of the fundamental areas requiring protection through our legal system. We campaign on behalf of individuals and families who are homeless or who experience difficulties in meeting mortgage repayments.

We act on behalf of clients who face difficulties in landlord and tenant relations and have appeared in the Private Residential Tenancies Board in relation to housing disputes.

KOD Lyons act regularly for clients with disabilities who have specific needs in terms of their housing rights and requirements. We also advocate on behalf of clients where local authorities are attempting to remove them from their home on the basis of allegations of anti-social behaviour.

We have also successfully assisted clients facing difficulties with council housing lists.
